Workshop Manager at Truck Tech Solutions in Silverdale, Harry Shaw has been awarded three scholarships since 2022, having completed four MITO programmes throughout his career. He is the most recent recipient of the Janet Lane MNZM scholarship.

Scholarships process for employers
 

  1. Discuss: Talk with your employee about learning with MITO.
  2. Assess: Use our checklist to make sure your workplace and employee are ready for training.
  3. Choose: Select the scholarship that matches your industry and the employee's current training level.
  4. Confirm: Check the scholarship criteria, terms and conditions, and application requirements.
  5. Apply: Applications open at 9am on Monday 19 October 2026.
  6. Enrol: Successful applicants should be enrolled by 31 January 2027.

Special scholarships

Janet Lane MNZM Scholarship: Awarded to just one individual each year, recognising the vital importance of leadership in the industries MITO supports.

Clyde Cunningham QSM Memorial Scholarships: Two scholarships are available for qualified automotive technicians based in the Hawke's Bay region to complete First Line Management. 

Sandy Fraser Memorial Scholarships: Two scholarships are available for qualified automotive technicians based in the Wellington region to complete First Line Management.

Business scholarships

Business Skills Scholarships: Multiple scholarships are available for current or aspiring managers or supervisors employed full-time in any of MITO's industries to complete First Line Management.

Business Skills Scholarships—Māori: Multiple scholarships are available for current or aspiring managers or supervisors of Māori ethnicity that are employed full-time in any of MITO's industries to complete First Line Management.

Business Skills Scholarships—Pacific Peoples: Multiple scholarships are available for current or aspiring managers or supervisors of Pacific peoples ethnicity that are employed full-time in any of MITO's industries to complete First Line Management.

Alumni Advanced Technical Scholarships

MITO Alumni Advanced Technical Scholarships: Multiple scholarships are available for qualified automotive technicians to complete Level 5 qualifications.

MITO Alumni Advanced Technical Scholarships—Māori: Multiple scholarships are available for qualified automotive technicians of Māori ethnicity to complete Level 5 qualifications.

MITO Alumni Advanced Technical Scholarships—Pacific Peoples: Multiple scholarships are available for qualified automotive technicians of Pacific people's ethnicity to complete Level 5 qualifications.

MITO Alumni Advanced Technical Scholarships—Women: Multiple scholarships are available for qualified automotive technicians that identify as women to complete Level 5 qualifications.

MITO Alumni Electric Vehicle Scholarships: Multiple scholarships are available for qualified automotive technicians to complete MITO's Electric Vehicle Automotive Engineering Level 5 programme. 

MITO Alumni Electric Vehicle Scholarships—Māori: Multiple scholarships are available for qualified automotive technicians of Māori ethnicity to complete MITO's Electric Vehicle Automotive Engineering Level 5 programme. 

MITO Alumni Electric Vehicle Scholarships—Pacific Peoples: Multiple scholarships are available for qualified automotive technicians of Pacific people's ethnicity to complete MITO's Electric Vehicle Automotive Engineering Level 5 programme.

Kickstart Scholarships: Multiple first-year scholarships are available for a MITO training programme commencing in 2027. 

Kickstart Scholarships—Māori: Multiple first-year scholarships are available for people of Māori ethnicity for a MITO training programme commencing in 2027.

Kickstart Scholarships—Pacific Peoples: Multiple first-year scholarships are available for people of Pacific people's ethnicity for a MITO training programme commencing in 2027. 

Kickstart Scholarships—Women: Multiple first-year scholarships are available for people that identify as women for a MITO training programme commencing in 2027. 

New Start Scholarships

New Start—Advanced Technical Scholarships: Multiple scholarships are available for qualified automotive technicians that are new to New Zealand to complete Level 5 qualifications. 

New Start—Electric Vehicle Scholarships: Multiple scholarships are available for qualified automotive technicians that are new to New Zealand to complete MITO's Electric Vehicle Automotive Engineering Level 5 programme.

New for 2027: Extractives Qualifications Scholarships

Extractives Qualifications Scholarships: Multiple scholarships are available for CoC micro-credentials in the Extractives industry.
