Apprenticeship Boost

Apprenticeship Boost is a $500 a month payment to eligible employers of apprentices in their first year of training.

The targeted occupations that are eligible for Apprenticeship Boost from 1 January 2025 include Automotive Engineering and Technology (which includes commercial road transport), Process and Resources Engineering (which includes extractives and drilling), and Other Engineering and Technology (which includes gas).

This means that all MITO apprenticeship programmes will continue to be supported by Apprenticeship Boost.

This scheme is administered by the Ministry of Social Development with the Work and Income website providing more details. Please direct all questions to the Ministry of Social Development: apprenticeship_boost@msd.govt.nz.
