Vocational Careers Advisor

Full time | Permanent | Auckland (remote)

Ignite futures. Connect young people to real careers.

At MITO, we are dedicated to promoting career pathways that support a productive, sustainable, and dynamic workforce. MITO, as an industry-owned organisation, enables training by industry, for industry. We are a nationally based organisation, and for over 50 years have supported the automotive, commercial road transport, extractives, drilling, gas, and logistics industries in facilitating apprenticeships and industry training in the workplace.

Working with learners, employers, and training providers, we ensure people get the best possible opportunities to learn and accelerate their careers, while developing a skilled workforce for the industries we serve.

We are now seeking a passionate and well connected Vocational Careers Advisor to lead our work with secondary schools across Aotearoa New Zealand. This role plays a pivotal part in inspiring students, strengthening vocational pathways, and connecting young people with meaningful employment and training opportunities across MITO’s industries.

About the role

The Vocational Careers Advisor plays a vital role in shaping the futures of young people by bringing MITO’s national secondary school strategy to life. Through strong, trusted relationships with schools, careers advisors, employers, and industry partners, this role opens doors to meaningful vocational pathways and real world opportunities. You will champion Gateway and other programmes that connect students to industry, explore new and innovative ways to spark engagement, and work closely with Regional Managers and Training Advisors to ensure learners complete their programmes and achieve lasting outcomes.

This role also leads inspiring promotional initiatives, including nationwide school bus tours of industry workplaces, and collaborates with the wider Marketing and Communications team to share our story and opportunities. Alongside this, you will coordinate MITO Connect job brokerage activities—connecting students and jobseekers with employers, supporting Training Advisors, and delivering events—helping young people step confidently from education into employment.
