Paul-Fincham-2026

KAM Transport Wellington Branch Manager Paul Fincham has been awarded MITO's Outstanding Contribution to Training Award at the 2026 Ia Ara Aotearoa Transporting New Zealand Road Freight Industry Awards.

The award recognises individuals who make an exceptional contribution to training and workforce development within New Zealand's transport industry.

With almost 30 years' experience in the sector, Paul has built a reputation for mentoring staff, creating career pathways, and supporting people to achieve industry qualifications and licence progression. His commitment to developing others has helped countless drivers gain their Class 5 licence while building rewarding careers in transport.

As manager of KAM Transport's Wellington branch, Paul has championed initiatives that provide opportunities for people entering the industry, including those who face barriers to employment. He has supported staff through licence progression, MITO training programmes, leadership development, and other professional qualifications, helping create a culture of continuous learning and development.

MITO Manager Corporate Brian Scott recently met with Paul to acknowledge his achievement.

"Paul's dedication to developing people and creating opportunities for others is a great example of the impact employers can have on the future of our industries," says Brian. "Through his mentoring, encouragement, and commitment to training, he has helped many people gain skills, qualifications, and confidence in their careers. This award is a fitting recognition of his contribution to both KAM Transport and the wider transport sector."

The award was presented as part of the Ia Ara Aotearoa Transporting New Zealand Road Freight Industry Awards, which celebrate individuals and organisations making a positive contribution to New Zealand's road freight industry.

MITO is proud to sponsor the Outstanding Contribution to Training Award and congratulates Paul on this well-deserved recognition.
