Henson and Murray Engine Rebuilders staff member, Nichollas (Nick) was awarded a MITO Kickstart scholarship which funded his training for the MITO – Te Pūkenga New Zealand Certificate in Automotive Machining (Level 4).
2026 Scholarships
Scholarship applications will open on Wednesday 15 October 2025.
MITO, in partnership with Inspiring Futures Foundation, awards multiple scholarships across a range of categories. Previous scholarship recipients have developed their skills in apprenticeships, traineeships and business skills to specialise in a certain field and support their management goals. All recipients receive advisory support from MITO throughout their training.
Scholarships available for 2026:
Janet Lane MNZM
This scholarship for a future leader pays the programme fee for a leadership training programme that will develop personal leadership skills.
Clyde Cunningham QSM Memorial
This scholarship covers the programme fee for MITO’s New Zealand Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) commencing in 2026. Applicants must have completed a MITO automotive apprenticeship and be based in the Hawke’s Bay region.
Sandy Fraser Memorial
This scholarship covers the programme fee for MITO’s New Zealand Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) commencing in 2026. Applicants must have completed a MITO automotive apprenticeship and be based in the Wellington region.
Business Skills
This scholarship is awarded to current or aspiring managers or supervisors employed full-time in any of MITO’s industries. This scholarship covers the programme fee for MITO’s New Zealand Certificate in Business (First Line Management) (Level 4) commencing in 2026.

New Start - Advanced Technical
This scholarship covers the training fee for MITO’s Light Automotive Engineering Level 5, Heavy Automotive Level 5, or Automotive Electrical Engineering Level 5 programme for someone new to New Zealand who holds a suitable pre-requisite qualification (not through MITO) and is employed full-time in the automotive industry, commencing in 2026.
Alumni Advanced Technical
This scholarship covers the training fee for MITO’s Collision Repair Level 5, Light Automotive Engineering Level 5, Heavy Automotive Level 5, or Automotive Electrical Engineering Level 5 programme, commencing in 2026.
