Achieving the qualifications has really supported my professional aspirations.

Renee Conroy, Young Achiever Award recipient

Renee started in the industry seven years ago, after leaving her last year of secondary school to take up the position of Airport Air Freight Junior at CEVA Logistics. She has since moved into customer services and achieved her goal of becoming a supervisor.

“Customer service is definitely my forte. I am a people’s person, so I feel very comfortable interacting with customers,” says Renee.

“It was challenging getting back into study after being away from it, but it was definitely worthwhile. It was great to be able to use my past and present work experiences within my coursework. Achieving the qualifications has really supported my professional aspirations,” says Renee.Contributing to Renee’s success was the completion of MITO’s Freight Forwarding programme. As part of the programme Renee gained the National Certificates in Freight Forwarding (Freight Administration and International Freight Forwarding).

Mat Vermeulen, New Zealand Country Manager at CEVA Logistics, recognised Renee’s potential and encouraged her to fulfil it. “Renee has a real passion for freight forwarding. The qualifications she has achieved through MITO has given her a great overview of the industry and allowed her to put the theory she learnt into practice. She has a great future ahead of her!”

Renee is already working towards her next career goal. “My ideal next step would be a position in Key Accounts, so I am currently building my skill base to achieve this.”
