Custom boatbuilding and innovation leader Dickey Boats is looking for a skilled upholsterer to join their marine interiors team.
Dickey Boats is a design and quality-driven boat-building company based in Napier. Respected as the country’s leading producer of custom power vessels, the small team of exceptional staff create boats predominantly for the Australasian market.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a “creatively organised” individual to input some individual flair to our award-winning boats. Initially, the successful candidate will be expected to follow custom design patterns and procedures, with the expectation that they can grow into taking ownership of the upholstery solutions in the interiors team.
The ideal candidate may be a master craftsperson and bring a vast experience in upholstery – this could be from time spent as an auto trimmer, a custom canvas producer, a sailmaker, within marine interiors, as an executive upholsterer or in the aviation sector.
Alternatively, applications from ambitious and driven junior upholsterers are welcome.
In either case, a desire to learn, to produce outstanding work and strive to meet our world class standards are essential.
Experience in the following materials and skills will be critical to the role:
- Vinyls and leathers
- Various fabrics and threads
- Single and double needle machines
- Various foams, shaping and textures
- Seating and squab solutions, detailed panelling and trims, foam backed liners.
The ability to work in a planned and organised manner within a small team and be physically fit are pre-requisites for the role. Organisational skills and creative thinking to develop solutions that match the company brand and vision are expected from candidates.
The right person will discover significant opportunities for growth and development within our proud team. You will be working with people dedicated to quality and craftsmanship, delivering first-class vessels that exceed customer expectations.
