The Job
We are on the lookout for an experienced Automotive Electrician to join the Service team in our Auckland Branch in Wiri. We would however consider an Apprentice who is already part way through their Apprenticeship. This role is not suitable for school leavers or those just completing Level 3. Reporting to the Service Manager and with daily supervision from a Leading Hand, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high quality preparation, delivery, maintenance and electrical repairs of both new and used trucks and busses. This includes all aspects of auto electrical and automotive air-conditioning work on Western Star trucks, MAN trucks and busses, as well as Detroit and MTU engines and Allison transmissions. This is a full time permanent position working a guaranteed 45 hours per week Monday to Friday. A competitive hourly rate and a tool allowance form part of the package.

Key Responsibilities:
• Working with computer-controlled engine management systems
• Servicing, identifying and repairing faults on electronically controlled vehicle systems
• Completing preventative maintenance work on a range of diesel vehicles to ensure they are roadworthy and meet regulatory requirements
• Installing and maintaining automotive electrical equipment
• Reading and following wiring diagrams, and creating electrical circuits using a variety of inputs/outputs and controls
• Diagnosing and repairing automotive electrical and air-conditioning faults
• Completing job card and warranty paperwork as per company guidelines

About You:
• Trade Qualification - National Certificate in Automotive Electrical Engineering (Level 4) or part way through this qualification
• Proven post trade experience with auto-electrical work including diagnostic identification, repairs and maintenance
• Experience in heavy transport/trailer wiring
• Previous experience within the heavy transport and/or industrial engine industries
• Current NZ drivers licence, up to Class 5 desirable
• Access to a modern toolbox and relevant tools for the job
• An ability to model safe operating practices and adhere to company safety guidelines and expectations
• The confidence to develop outstanding relationships with a range of customers, and represent the Penske brand with high levels of professionalism
