  • A letter from you outlining how the scholarship is going to help you achieve your career goals, benefit your workplace and how you will manage the balance between study and work
  • A letter of permission/support from your employer or an offer of employment, confirming your employment start date, that you are working or will be working full-time and why they support your scholarship application
  • Your CV containing information about your employment history 
  • Evidence of your New Zealand citizenship or residency (only a passport, birth certificate or residence visa is accepted).

Please read these term and conditions carefully to ensure your application is considered.

  • Incomplete applications or applications received after 5pm, Friday 13 December 2019 will not be considered
  • You must be a New Zealand citizen or resident
  • You must have full-time employment or an offer of full-time employment in the automotive, extractives, transport, logistics or industrial textile fabrication industry in 2020
  • You must not have been previously enrolled in a MITO training programme at level 4 or above
  • You must not be eligible for the Government’s fees-free policy, which provides up to two years’ free industry training for eligible learners enrolling in eligible programmes. To find out more about fees free industry training visit mito.nz/fees-free
  • Māori and Pacific Peoples scholarship applicants may be asked to provide further evidence of ethnicity
  • The scholarship will not be awarded to applicants that may be enrolled in another training programme with any other tertiary provider whilst they are enrolled with MITO
  • The scholarship must be used within one year of it being awarded
  • The scholarship can only be awarded once per person and is not transferable to another person
  • The scholarship is not transferable to another place of employment should you change employer before the scholarship is completed, unless the new employer is within the same industry and they are willing to support you; and your previous employer and MITO both agree to the transfer
  • This scholarship pays the first year programme fee for the recipient's MITO apprenticeship or traineeship programme at Level 4 or above
  • MITO will publish details of the scholarship recipients and may ask for further information to help promote MITO’s training programmes and the scholarship programme
  • A selection panel will be convened by the MITO Chief Executive. The panel reserves the right to request further supporting information. The panel’s decision is final.
