Luke Bylsma
Luke completed his First Line Management training while working at Counties Honda in Pukekohe.
"I finished my MITO apprenticeship (in motorcycle engineering) in July 2006 and have just finished my National Certificate in First Line Management. I've been able to gain both these qualifications before I turn 23.
The qualifications are both really useful in my role as service manager, where I do hands-on work as well as run the workshop. The job involves taking bookings, dealing with customers, and managing the team of people who work here.
My MITO apprenticeship gave me a great head start. I was getting paid to learn. The more I learned, the more technical skills I gained and the more I've kept advancing on the job and in my career.
I've already bought into this business and I'm keen to own a business of my own one day. Having these qualifications behind me will make that a lot easier to achieve!"
