MITO Scholarship recipients announced

MITO are delighted to announce the recipients of industry training scholarships for 2012:

The Graduate Scholarship was awarded to Michael Paaymans, the 2011 MTA Apprentice of the Year, who will use the $3,000 scholarship to contribute towards costs for his first year studying for a Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Waikato. Before starting university study, Michael worked for Lodge Auto Centre in Hastings where he completed his apprenticeship and ATech® qualification. 

The School Leavers' Scholarship is aimed at recent school leavers who have signed up to a MITO apprenticeship. Applicants need to have been working in the industry for less than three months or have a formal offer of full-time employment. Six scholarships were awarded, each worth $1000:

Logan Kensington - Cochranes of Canterbury, Leeston
Rees Leek - Kiwi Discovery, Queenstown
Alex Collins - Advance Agricentre Ltd, Invercargill
Ryan Bain - Robb's Garage Limited, Roxburgh
Max Boyce - Tractor Repairs & Spares Ltd, Blenheim
Ryan Murray - Brian Holgate Panelbeaters, Auckland

The ATech® Scholarship is for people who have completed a MITO Level 4 National Certificate and are keen to study for ATech® - MITO's elite training programme for advanced technical roles. Three scholarships were awarded, each worth $1,000:

Daniel Ritchie - Bruce Raxworthy Painters Limited, Christchurch
Paul Simmonds - Eastern Truck & Marine Ltd, Napier
Adrian Dunn - Precision Autowerk, Auckland 

The Business Skills Scholarship is a new category offering scholarships to complete a National Certificate in Business (First Line Management) Level 4 qualification. Three scholarships were awarded, each worth $1,000:

Kelly Whibley - Waikato Toyota, Hamilton
Paul Holdaway - Emmetts Truck Services, Palmerston North
Nicholas Goodman - Drummond & Etheridge, Timaru.
