StartUp® offers students the opportunity to gain the National Certificate in Motor Industry (Foundation Skills) (Level 1).

The National Certificate in Motor Industry (Foundation Skills) (Level 1) can be achieved by completing all 43 credits of the ‘Ignition’ and ‘Accelerate’ unit standards.

Four unit standards form the Ignition programme. Two of them (21857 and 16113) must be completed before the student can begin their work placement. 21858 and 3501 must be completed in a workplace.
Assessment
Schools will assess unit standards in their base scope accreditation (BSAS).
The Accelerate programme offers a selection of unit standards to achieve in the workplace. MITO can connect the school to a local employer and so provide access to industry professionals and their workshops.
Students can choose to do some or all of these unit standards, in consultation with the MITO Industry Training Advisor, the employer and the school.
Assessment
Schools will assess unit standards in their base scope accreditation (BSAS).
For remaining unit standards, MITO will assess as part of Industry Training Advisor regular workplace visits.
