What is this unit standard about?

People credited with this unit standard are able to:

  • demonstrate knowledge of complex automotive hydraulic diagrams
  • interpret automotive complex hydraulic diagrams and circuitry.

Should I have completed any other unit standards first?

We recommend you should have complete unit standard 931 (Describe the application of hydraulics for automotive heavy engineering use) or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.

How will this unit standard be assessed?

You will be required to:

  • prove your theory knowledge of complex automotive hydraulic diagrams, including their use as a diagnostic guide, the ways that they are simplified, their sources, and their features
  • interpret automotive complex hydraulic diagrams and circuitry, including identifying and tracing the circuit, explaining component operation, and identifying the component location and test procedure.

This will involve completing a case study.

You will need access to complex hydraulic diagrams.
