What is this unit standard about?

People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of:

  • electronic integration with vehicle body components
  • the removal and installation of body components in terms of electronic integrity of vehicles.

Should I have completed any other unit standards first?

We recommend you should have completed unit standard 3877 (Demonstrate knowledge of protecting vehicle electronics in the motor industry) or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.

How will this unit standard be assessed?

You will be required to prove your theory knowledge of:

  • electronic integration with vehicle body components, including faults that can occur when removing and/or replacing body components that are attached to electronic components
  • the removal and installation of body components in terms of electronic integrity of vehicles, including:
    retaining system memory
    the use of current conductive adhesives?
    storage of components.

This will involve completing a case study.
