How will this unit standard be assessed?

You will be required to:

  • prove your theory knowledge of the use of portable computer diagnostic equipment including the different types, their functions, and the information that they can provide
  • use portable computer diagnostic equipment to test vehicle systems and provide a report to the customer.

This will involve completing the following types of assessment:

  • case study
  • workplace exemplar
  • workplace report.

Special tools and equipment or range of work required

You will need:

  • a scan tool/code reader or scope
  • access to vehicles with electronic system faults that require testing with portable computer diagnostic equipment.
