Assessment and ATech®
The ATech® training programme is a mix of theory and practical work. Your case studies, theory questions, and workplace exemplars are assessed by your training provider. Your workplace reports are assessed by MITO registered assessors.
Theory assessments
The Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) is responsible for managing the distribution of training and assessment materials for ATech®.
Your case studies, theory questions, and workplace exemplars will be marked by MIT.
Case studies
A case study presents you with a simulated real-life situation and challenges you to:
Theory questions
Theory questions require you to do more than simply recall information that you have read. They expect you to provide insight based on what you have learnt about this subject.
These are ‘open-book assessments' - you are able to refer to your research and notes when answering the questions.
Workplace exemplars
The case study presents you with a scenario. The workplace exemplar gives you criteria for a situation and asks you to provide an example from your own experience.
A workplace exemplar asks you to:
Workplace reports
A workplace report is a record of a repair, service, or task that you have completed and that relates to the unit standard being assessed.
You are asked to give detailed information in the reports. This includes:
Your workplace reports are confirmed by your workplace verifier. They are then assessed by a MITO registered assessor.
