Purpose and content of the National Certificate

Purpose:

This certificate is designed for those persons working in the tyre servicing branch of the motor industry. This qualification will be a means of recognising skills and knowledge that people have achieved.

Holders of this qualification are able to consult with customers and attend to their enquiries, give advise on particular tyre applications, repair and replace tyres, repair punctures, and balance and fit wheel assemblies.

This qualification consists of unit standards that form core sections and optional strands. To achieve the National Certificate in Motor Industry (Tyre Servicing) without strands, only the core sections are required. The optional strands provide a pathway for specialising in a particular area of tyre servicing.
