How it works

How ATech® works

MITO's ATech® programme provides advanced training in the motor industry, both on the job (practical) and off the job (theory).

ATech® overview

ATech® is a ‘research-based' training programme, which requires you to search for information yourself. You can often do this research at your own workplace or using the vehicles that you work on.

With ATech® you work towards the National Certificate in Motor Industry (Advanced Technical) (Level 5). You will learn skills that reflect the latest industry developments, such as:

  • adapting to new technologies
  • servicing and repairing complex systems
  • carrying out failure analysis
  • understanding hybrid vehicle technology
  • diagnosing faults with multiplex circuits
  • interpreting body and paint specifications using computers and digital imaging.

Who can do ATech®?

You must have completed one of the prerequisite qualifications to do ATech®.

Take a look at the qualifications that allow you to enrol in ATech®.

You must also be in a situation that allows you to supervise others in a technical role.

The business you're working in must have:

  • the appropriate range of work required for your training and assessment
  • staff with the experience to supervise an ATech® learner and verify their competence.
