Start their engines
StartUp is MITO's new secondary student’s automotive
training programme. This programme opens
exciting new pathways for students keen on a career in the automotive
industry. StartUp includes both theory and practical components – but
is best designed to meet the needs of students wanting to experience
the reality of working in the industry. Because all training materials,
resources and assessments are written by MITO, students are guaranteed
an industry-relevant programme teaching the necessary skills for
starting out. MITO really knows what the industry wants from its
new technicians, so we’ve used this information to create
a great package.
Following the classroom completion of two essential theory unit
standards, MITO will assist in finding a local employer to enable
the student to complete a selection of practical unit standards
in the workplace. StartUp also provides for the necessary assessment
and reporting. With StartUp, students get a taste of what
it’s really like being part of the automotive industry. If
they enjoy StartUp and are interested in a long-term career, they
may wish to go on and complete an apprenticeship in the same or
a new workplace.
