Management Training for the Automotive Industry
Traditionally in many workshops the best technician is often promoted to managing people with little consideration for the very different skills required.
In recognition of this reality, MITO has been contextualising management qualifications specifically for our industry. The first of these new qualifications is the National Certificate in First Line Management (Level 4) which is designed for those who are in, or are seeking to be in, supervisory positions.
Contextualised learning is now available for anyone within the industry wanting to develop their skills and prepare themselves for potential promotion. In fact students can come from any facet of the business, including technical, sales, office and administration, and front-line managers.
Delivery
MITO is working with a specialist training company to provide the training which will be delivered through a blend of work based training, four two-day contextualised workshops, and training resources.
The first workshops began at the end of 2006 and we have received great feedback from those who are participating, including those who were a part of the Wellington course.
Martin Evans from Blair Wright Group in Wellington commented that "everyone got something out of it. There is a need for a course like this to be out there. It was a great insight into management and what it should be - I should have done this years ago."
