Accredited organisations assessing against MITO unit standards must participate in a cluster group moderation meeting every year.
Here is a checklist to help you prepare for this meeting.
Bring an assessment that has been done for a MITO unit standard — if you’re unsure if it’s a MITO one, check on the NZQA website or contact the Quality Assurance team at MITO.
Bring copies of all evidence used to support your assessment decision. For some unit standards, this may mean bringing items that have been welded or constructed. If these can be easily brought, feel free to do so.
Make sure that all items of evidence identify the learner as the person who performed the task. For photos, this means signed and dated by the learner and tutor.
Check that the evidence you bring to support your assessment decision is dated on or prior to the assessment date.
Make sure you have signed and dated any assessment cover sheets used for the assessment sample(s) provided, and bring these with you.
Bring copies of documents rather than originals. MITO keeps your copies after the meeting while the quality assurance process is being carried out. They are then returned to you.
For privacy, you may remove any sensitive details from your documents. If you do this, please mark clearly on the copy where you’ve removed details. For example, if you remove the learner’s name from a test paper, write ‘learner’s name removed’ beside the black-out or white-out.
